They’re getting bigger: 3.4 earthquake rattles Phrae

A new week and more seismic activity in the north with two earthquakes, one registering 3.4 being recorded in Phrae early this morning, Feb. 18.

The first earthquake, 1.7 on the Richter scale, struck at 12:27 a.m. at 18.75 N 100.21 E – in Mae Yom National Park near Highway 1120.

The second earthquake, 3.4, struck at 3:47 a.m. not far away from the earlier quake – 18.76 N 100.2 E, also in Mae Yom National Park.

The new earth quakes follow an increasing number of small earthquakes over the last week including a 2.5 in Chiang Rai Feb. 13 and a 2.1 in Fang in Feb. 14.
