Two arrested for alleged rape of restaurant worker in Tha Sala

Two foreign nationals have been arrested for allegedly raping a restaurant worker in Tha Sala, Mueang Chiang Mai.

The two men, named as Mr. Pipat Sae Jong, 20 from Myanmar Mr. Tsang Srangwan, 19 from Laos and both restaurant workers are alleged to have attacked and raped a 19-year-old female – also a restaurant worker (named by Thai language media but won’t be here) in a Tha Sala dormitory building where Mr. Sae Jong lived at 4 a.m. this morning (Sept. 11).

According to reports, the victim was drunk and was being hassled by other men when the two accused offered to take her home. Instead of taking her home, they took her to the Tha Sala address and raped her.

Mr. Saw Jong denied raping the victim, claiming it was consensual sex while Mr. Srangwan claimed denied having any involvement.

Both have been remanded in custody pending further investigation by Mae Ping police.
