Two dead following samurai sword motorcycle chase in Si Phum

Two people have died following a gang-related motorcycle chase in Si Phum early this morning, June 18.

The accident occurred on Manee Nopparat Road near the Si Phum Junction at the northeast corner of the Chiang Moat at around 3:40 a.m.

The chase leading to the accident is said to have started after two groups of young people were arguing with one man said to have brought a samurai sword into the argument.

The two dead kids – Mr. Piyangkun Panyakom, 16 and Mr. Thiraphong Khwan Yuen, 16 were fleeing the man with the samurai sword at the time of the accident.

While Panyakom died in the crash, Yuen, who was also suffering a stab wound consistent with being attacked with a samurai sword, died later in Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital.

Both the alleged sword-wielding attacker along with the deceased kids are described as being Tai Yai.

Police are said to be investigating.
