Two earthquakes recorded in Mae Suai, Chiang Rai

Two earthquakes have been recorded in Mae Suai District in Chiang Rai as earthquake activity starts to increase again in the north.

The first earthquake, a 1.9 on the Richter scale was recorded at 9:01 p.m. yesterday, Aug. 20 at 19.688 N 99.454 E – Tambon Pa Daet not far from the Mae Sui dam.

The second, a 2.4 was recorded at 4:31 a.m. this morning, Aug. 21 at 19.692,99.591, Tambon Mae Suai in Mae Suai District to the east of the Mae Suai dam, the first earthquake occurring to the west.

The earthquakes follows on from a number of earthquakes recorded across the north in the last week including a 1.8 on Aug. 18 in Wang Nuea, Lampang and a 2.4 and 1.6 in Phan District, Chiang Rai on Aug. 16.
