Two earthquakes strike Chiang Rai, Phrae in latest round of seismic activity

Another week and another two small earthquakes in the north, the latest hitting Phrae and Chiang Rai.

The first earthquake – 1.8 on the Richter scale, struck at 6:48 p.m. last night, Feb. 10 at 19.37 N, 99.51 E, San Sali, Wiang Pa Pao District in Chiang Rai close to Highway 118.

The second earthquake, registering 2.4 struck at 9:46 a.m. this morning, Feb. 11 at 18.22 N 99.84 E – in a rural area half way between Mueang Phrae and Mueang Lampang.

The latest quakes follow on from similarly sized quakes Feb. 3 and 4 that struck Chiang Dao and Chiang Rai.
