42 arrested on day 10 of the coronavirus curfew in Chiang Mai

42 people were arrested overnight April 13-14 for breaching the coronavirus curfew and other emergency decree-laws in Chiang Mai in what would have traditionally been Songkran.

Five people described as being from Myanmar were arrested in a storeroom at an address in Chang Moi on multiples charges after they were caught drinking together in a group to celebrate Songkran.

Charges included a violation of the emergency on social distancing and immigration charges. As reported earlier another person from Myanmar had been arrested after being discovered selling alcohol in the same area.

A further three people were reported to have been caught in Fang for outside after 10 p.m.

Notably the total now includes those also caught breaching general coronavirus “mingling” rules as well as the curfew itself. 28 were caught not social distancing while 13 were caught out after curfew. The additional case was the alcohol seller.

The total since the beginning of the curfew is now 383 arrests.
