Unexploded ‘bomb’ found in Chiang Rai village

Police and army officers have attended a Chiang Rai village after locals reported that they had found an unexploded “bomb.”

The “bomb,” a gold-colored globe 40 millimeters across, was found near the Huay Sak Reservoir in Moo 15 Yang Hom, Khun Tan District yesterday, Oct. 19.

The so-called bomb was identified as coming from an M79 grenade launcher, a weapon used by the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War but still in service throughout the world, the Royal Thai Army being one such user.

The “bomb” was safely dealt with and no one injured.
